BARDELYS RECEIVES THE CONFESSION OF THE DYING LESPERON, IN THE PRESENCE OF HIS SERVANT.

These scenes are from the BARDELYS THE MAGNIFICENT photoplay.  MGM adapted Rafael Sabatini’s novel into a film, starring John Gilbert, Eleanor Boardman, and Roy D’Arcy in 1926.  Gilbert and Boardman played a romantic duo again in REDEMPTION (MGM, 1930).  REDEMPTION was Gilbert’s first talkie, although it was released after his second talkie, HIS GLORIOUS NIGHT (MGM, 1929)

Roy D’Arcy played Gilbert’s rival in THE MERRY WIDOW (MGM, 1925) and in LA BOHEME (MGM, 1926).
